If Yuh Miss De Nine Night! Don’t Miss De Birthday!

Welcome to our fifth season from the heart of the Downtown Brooklyn cultural district!

Seems like only yesterday we were finalizing plans for our open house with the 1st Miss Lou Read-A-Thon. Seems like yesterday Miss Lou was on the phone telling us we had gotten her age wrong. And just when we got her age correct, she ups an gone.

Time flies, and now Dialectics ’06 is back where we started – celebrating a legend.

Well, whatever you call it: Creole, Dialect, Island Talk, Native Language or Patois, this celebration of the Caribbean’s linguistic heritage has been a hit from its inception. In a presentation that harkens back to regional folk performance gatherings of Tea Meetings, Best Village Shows, Penny Concerts and Nine Night, the program features a Pan- Caribbean cast of singer/writer Andrene Bonner, storyteller Dianne Dixon, poet Janice “Miss Matty Lou” Hart, folk musician Wrickford Dalgetty, comedienne Susan Olton-Kennedy, and more!
