Digicel Bermuda Weathered Hurricane Bill In Fine Style

The Digicel network has withstood the powerful forces of Hurricane Bill – despite the torrential rains, gale and hurricane force winds experienced across the island. Digicel is happy to report that 100% of its customer base was able to stay connected right throughout the storm, without any interruption to their service.

At 7:30 am today, Saturday 22nd August, all cellular sites in all Parishes are working.  As part of our Hurricane Contingency Plan, generators were installed to cover most of Digicel’s cell sites island-wide. As a result, the generators and fuel emergency reserves were on standby to continue to keep cell sites running at maximum capacity.  However, since the loss of electricity was not experienced at any of our cell sites around the Island, the generators were never activated.

CEO, Wayne Caines said: “It is our aim to help our customers and Digicel is heartened to know that you could rely on us during Hurricane Bill.  We will continue to work hard to ensure our network – that is so vital to many – remains accessible in times of need.”

For customers that need to see a Digicel retail representative, the Digicel BlackBerry Centre and the Digicel Store on Church Street will be opened today from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm.  The stores and administrative offices will open with normal business hours on Monday.
