Digicel, the best value operator in the Caribbean, Central America and the Pacific, today announced that Damian Blackburn, currently Regional CEO, will assume the role of CEO of Digicel Honduras.
A telecoms industry veteran with over twelve years experience, Damian joined Digicel Group two and a half years ago as Group Operational Development Director before being promoted to the role of Regional CEO which saw him overseeing twelve Caribbean markets.
Prior to joining Digicel, Damian held senior management positions with Virgin Mobile, BT Group and Vodafone in the UK.
Damian takes over from Ghada Gebara who has decided to leave the company after more than five years to concentrate on private projects. During her tenure, as CEO of Haiti, Ghada was instrumental in launching Digicel in Haiti and for the incredible success of the business there which saw it taking the number one position and attracting over two million customers in just a few short years. From that role, she later assumed a regional role as CEO of Haiti and the French West Indies before taking on the CEO role in Digicel Honduras.
Damian Blackburn comments; “This is a very vibrant market with a fantastic workforce. I am excited about this new opportunity and look forward to continuing to bring our special brand of best value mobile services to our customers. I am delighted to have the opportunity to help take Digicel Honduras to the next level.
Digicel Group COO, Kevin White, comments; “Damian has been an integral member of our team across a number of Digicel’s markets and brings a great set of skills with him to Honduras in terms of energy, focus and commitment. I am sure that Digicel Honduras will go from strength to strength with Damian at the helm.
“I would also like to take this opportunity to express my heartfelt thanks to Ghada for five fantastic years with the Digicel family and to wish her all the best for the future.”
