Digicel Rising Stars Host Hopefuls

As this season of Digicel Rising Stars continues, the five Host hopefuls are excited that Jamaica is getting a chance to see them show off their hosting skills.

Kemesha Bolton – 24 years old

Kemesha Bolton will be the first up as she hosted the first audition at the Leiba’s Gas Station in May Pen. Kemesha is from Kingston and is a student at the Mico University College where she is completing a Bachelor’s degree in Primary Education. She points out that she is a full Excelsiorian as she went to Excelsior Primary, High and Community College. Kemesha enjoys dancing, acting and reading. While at the Exed Community College she had the opportunity to perform in several plays.

Cameka McRae – 27 years old

Cameka McRae is originally from Kingston but now lives in Portmore. She is a television producer by profession and has a communications degree from Northern Caribbean University in Manchester. Cameka was in charge of the Portmore audition which was held at the Portmore Heart Academy. Cameka describes herself as a church girl with spunk. For fun Cameka likes going to movies and parties but she says she really just likes having fun with her friends whatever form it takes.

Deidra James – 30 years old

Deidra James was born in St. Ann but grew up in Kingston. Deidre is probably best known for working as a presenter on Fame FM. Deidre says she is a proud alumnus of Vaz Preparatory, Wolmer’s High School for Girls and the University of Technology where she earned a degree in Marketing. Deidre has been in the entertainment field for a while as she worked in the hotel industry for years entertaining guests. Deidre held things down at the Montego Bay auditions.

Julie Malcolm – 32 years old

When the Digicel Rising Stars team moved to St. Ann for auditions, Julie Malcolm performed hosting duties. Julie, who is from Rocky Point in Clarendon, says she is depending on her bubbly personality to win over Jamaicans. Julie has a Bachelor of Arts in Linguistics and Drama from UWI Mona. She has taught a variety of subject areas including English Language and Culture, at varying levels of the education system, for ten (10) years. Julie was among the top 5 in the JCDC’s Clarendon Festival Queen Competition in 2003. Julie has also hosted a fashion and culture show for cable television in Clarendon, and co-hosted ‘Miss Clarendon Festival Queen 2009.

Lady Rennae – 25 years old

Lady Rennae is best known for hosting shows on RETV and Fame FM. Rennae held the mic on day 2 of the Kingston auditions. Rennae was born in Kingston but points out that Portmore is her second home. Rennae started working in media in her late teens, which saw her first working at ROOTS FM which allowed here to connect predominantly with an innercity audience. She currently has stints at RETV where she hosts the High School Tour and FAME FM where she is an on-air presenter.  See Lady Rennae on Sunday June 27 at 8PM on TVJ.
