The world premier of my documentary, DUB POETRY the life and work of malachi smith is set for Black History Month on February 22, at the African American Research Library and Cultural Center 2650 Sistrunk Boulevard in Fort Lauderdale. It will commence at 6 pm with a reception followed by a short reading by Geoffrey Philp and Dr. Donna Weir-Soley, the documentary will then be shown, followed by a short performance by me. The event is free and open to the public.
It features Oku Onoura, Professor Mervyn Morris (University of the West Indies), Professor Carole Boyce-Davies (Florida International University), Professor Geoffrey Philp (Miami-Dade College), Basil Walters (Jamaica Observer Newspaper), radio personalities John T. Hodgson (WAVS II70 AM) and Marlene Stephenson (Jamaica), Rev. Marta Burke, Sidney Roberts, Karla Gottlieb, Taurus Alphanso, Nabbi Natural, Calvin Mitchell, Tomlin Ellis and Tommy Ricketts. Running time is one hour. It is being done in conjunction with Broward County Library Community Outreach Division, Reggae Concepts and 4-M Productions.
