Dubtonic Kru and Iba Mahr Visit Atlanta

Even when you can’t hop on a flight to a new exotic destination, you can always get a little culture in your own city.

This weekend I celebrated my 30th birthday with a little bit of Jamaica in Atlanta!

On Saturday, I traveled down to Stone Mountain for Iba Mahrs interview with Jah PrinceĀ onĀ Da Flava Radio. Ā I first saw Iba Mahr perform live at Sumfest 2011Ā and several times since around Jamaica at various stage shows. He has such a unique sound, positive/conscious lyrics to match and brings undeniable passion on stage for every performance. Still young in the music game, I’m excited to see what the future holds for Iba Mahr. WatchĀ the full Ustream interview with Iba Mahr and Jah PrinceĀ here.

Fresh off their performance in Baja Mexico for the Baja Reggae Festival, Dubtonic Kru made their next stop in Atlanta. On Sunday, they performed at Vibes Nightclub featuring Kool Johnny Kool and Iba Mahr. There’s nothing like live reggae music and I was happy to be front and center for the entire show.
