Dutchie Culinary Festival For All Tastes, August 3, 2014, New York

As part of the Jamaica 2014 Festival celebrations, the Dutchie Culinary Festival will be held on Sunday, August 3 at the Ranny Williams Entertainment Centre to tantalize the taste of patrons.

Organized by the Jamaica Cultural Development Commission, an agency of the Ministry of Youth and Culture with the aim of showcasing the diversity of Jamaican foods in creative and artistic ways, the Dutchie Culinary Festival will get underway at 12 noon and is open to the public, free of cost.

The Festival is a new and exciting addition to the Jamaica Festival celebrations and is the perfect family outing which will showcase the culinary artistry of semi professionals from colleges, training institutes, restaurants and budding chefs.  

Dutchie Culinary Festival will feature live cooking demonstrations, cooking competitions, celebrity cook-off and mixology competitions, vegetable and fruit carvings displays and a showcase of Jamaican produces cooked in various ways. The competitors who will vie for the Golden Dutch Pot will also be given the platform to compete in international competitions while enhancing their skills and confidence.

Other features of the Festival include an ‘Out of Many’ Village which will consist of food stations featuring foods from ethnic groups which contribute to Jamaica’s rich food culture; a ‘Wataloo’ Cooling Fountain which will contain beverages that are traditionally Jamaican and a Sweet Treats booth which will showcase Jamaica’s traditional sweet treats and the diversity of Jamaican fruits and produces into desserts. There will be live all day entertainment showcasing Jamaica’s rich musical culture.
