Emerald Dunes Golf Club Of Florida Lead Jamaica Invitational Pro-Am “Annie’s Revenge” After Round One

The eighth annual Jamaica Invitational Pro-Am “Annie’s Revenge”, presented by Appleton Estate Jamaica Rum teed off at two of Jamaica’s best golf courses Cinnamon Hill and White Witch on Thursday, November 21 with a capacity field comprising teams from the United States and Canada vying for top honors.

“We are excited to have several new partners enhancing the event on and off the golf course this year,” said Tom Jaronski, Tournament Director and President of The Golf Connection LLC. “Their involvement continues to enhance the tournament for our participants and guests and for the differentiation of Annie’s Revenge from other destination pro-ams.”

At the close of play on Day One of the three round tournament, Emerald Dunes Golf Club of Florida lead the 54-hole event with a score of 55 (-17). Tied for second at Cinnamon Hill with 60 (-12) are defending champions Blue Hills Country Club of Kansas City. Country Club of New Canaan and Waterchase Golf Club from Texas, also trail by five strokes with 60 (-12).

Over at White Witch, Commonwealth National from Pennsylvania and Fieldstone Golf Club from Michigan share the top spot with a score of 59 (-12), followed by 1757 Golf Club just one stroke back with 60 (-11).

In the professional category, Rob Corcoran of Emerald Dunes Golf Club in Florida shot a 66
(-7) at Cinnamon Hill to lead the field, ahead of Ed Kirby of Alpine Country Club in Rhode Island who trails by two strokes with 66 (-3) at White Witch. In the senior pro division, Chris Bitticks from Tracy Country Club and Herb Smith from Country Club of Miami are tied with 75 (+3).

The three round event uses the one best ball net format, and continues on Friday, November 22, culminating with the championship round on Saturday, November 23, 2013. Professionals will be competing for an increased $30,000 US prize purse, courtesy of Appleton Estate Jamaica Rum and Iberostar. While amateurs will vie for prizes donated by sponsors American Airlines, Appleton Estate Jamaica Rum, Cobra Puma Golf, Iberostar Grand Rose Hall and Jamaica Tours.  

A new feature of this year’s tournament is the Appleton Estate Shootout at Annie’s Revenge,  which creates an optional 4th round of play for attendees wishing to extend their stay in Jamaica. The shootout uses a modified Stableford scoring system, will feature team and individual competition and will utilize a “Shoot for the Flag” style of play.
