The Aunty Roachy Film, Television and Literary Festival will be held on Tuesday, August 5 in an effort to develop and promote Jamaican narrative in most of its forms. An all day event, the Festival will be held at the Ranny Williams Entertainment Centre.

Commencing at 12 noon, the Festival will kick off with a Book Fair themed, “Lunchtime Book Stew”. The Book Fair will also encompass mini book launches, play and dramatic reading, an Open Mic Poetry Slam, the Jamaica Cultural Development Commission Creative Writing Showcase and a tribute to Professor Eddie Baugh.

Patrons will be able to view television segments which will feature Hon. Louise Bennett Coverley tributes and reflections while the Film section will showcase an impressive collection of short films.

The Festival has something great in store for patrons and will feature several notable presenters including Kelly Magnus, Roland Watson Grant, Jean Lowrie-Chin, Deon Silvera, Basil Dawkins, Mel Cooke and Christopher ‘Johnny’ Daley.

As an exciting and engaging addition to the 2014 Jamaica Festival celebrations, the Festival promises to be a refreshing part of the celebrations designed as a family show to entertain, educate and revive interest in the Jamaican narrative forms.

The Aunty Roachy Festival will run from noon to 10:00 p.m. and is free of cost. It is sponsored by the Tourism Enhancement Fund and CHASE Fund.
