In an effort to give all Individuals, schools, community groups, youth clubs, social clubs, performing arts clubs and church groups a chance to enter the 2015 National Festival of the Performing Arts, the deadline has been extended to Friday, October 31.
Persons are invited to submit entries in the categories of speech, drama, music, traditional folk forms and dance. Entry forms are accessible online at the JCDC website, www.jcdc.gov.jm and at the Jamaica Cultural Development Commission (JCDC) Head Office located at 3-5 Phoenix Avenue, Kingston 10 and all JCDC parish offices island-wide.
The anticipated Competition will kick off with the Zone Finals in November 2014 which will run through to December 2014 while the Parish Finals will be held in January and February 2015. The Competition’s climax, the National Finals will be staged in March 2015.
JCDC Director of Marketing and Public Relations, Stephen Davidson explained that the JCDC Performing Arts Competition continues to create several opportunities for young people in arts development adding that: “The opportunities are priceless and life changing and I implore everyone to utilize this extension. The Competition offers attractive prizes including cash incentives, trophies gift packages in addition to the opportunity to perform at national and celebratory events and private functions”.
The JCDC also stages rigorous development workshops and training for participants aimed at improving the quality of their performances.
