The JCDC continues to fulfill its mission by creating opportunities that unearth and develop the talents of the Jamaica people. The Jamaica Children’s Gospel Song Competition is another opportunity for new talents to emerge as the 2014 edition, gets on the way with its first Elimination show on Friday, February 14 at St. Mark’s Anglican Church Hall, Mandeville, Manchester starting at 9:30 a.m.
The Jamaica Children’s Gospel Song Competition aims to bring about higher levels of interest and participation from children between the ages of 6 and 15 years; in expressing themselves through any genre of music to spread the gospel. The competition accepts both covers and original songs and participants from schools, churches and community groups across the country compete in the solo, choir and ensemble categories.
The other eliminations will be held in St. James on Friday, February 21, St. Mary on March 14 and in Kingston on Friday, March 28. The successful entrants from these eliminations will compete in the semi-final round, before going for national honours in the grand finale set for Child’s Month.
