Festival Song Finalists to Be Chosen on Thursday

It will be a “Bam Bam” at the Ranny Williams Entertainment Centre on Thursday, March 26, 2015, when the thirty seven semi-finalists in the Jamaica Festival Song Competition will face-off for one of the top ten spots and a chance to be the 2015 winner. This round of the competition organized by the Jamaica Cultural Development Commission (JCDC), an agency of the Ministry of Youth & Culture will select the top ten songs that will rock the nation for the 2015 Independence Celebrations.

The competition which commences at 6:00 p.m. will see the semi-finalists from across the island pulling all the stops to impress the judges. The songs that will be selected should primarily capture the spirit and the essence of the festivities associated with the Emancipation and Independence celebrations and be popular with the people. The finalists have the chance to win over a million dollars in cash and prizes.

The Jamaica Festival Song Competition is one of the longest song competitions in Jamaica that continues to unearth and showcase several talented individuals each year. This competition which started in 1966 has been the driving force behind some of Jamaica’s acclaimed singers and song writers.

Admission is free and the public is invited to be a part of this exciting semi-final round as well as get a chance to see their favorite artiste for the competition.
