Theme: Toward a Reggae Hall of Fame: Celebrating Great Jamaican Music.
First International Reggae Poster Contest 2012 submission process is a success, and is now closed for entries. The committee wishes to thank all the contestants from around the world who responded to the call and submitted their amazing posters. This is an historic beginning toward realizing the organizers’ objectives. The hundreds of posters that were received are a wonderful “love letter” to Reggae music and Jamaican popular culture. The organizers are excited to announce to the world, the names of all the contestants who submitted their works.
The 1142 posters submitted from 80 countries offer a glimpse into how the rest of the world view the positive energy of Reggae. The contest organizers and partners are pleased by the responses from the many participating countries including Bosnia and Herzegovina, Côte d’Ivoire, China, Estonia, Israel, India, Russia, Malta, Pakistan, Vietnam, Turkey, Libya, Mexico, Saudi Arabia, and the Philippines.
This is a powerful testimony of the global reach and love for Reggae music. The contest organizers will continue to make announcements in the coming months about future events and exhibitions. This is more than a contest, it is a platform to share our mission to the world and a vehicle toward realizing the establishment of the Reggae Hall of Fame vision in Kingston, Jamaica.
Now the second stage of the contest has begun; the pre-selection of the most creative Reggae posters. These posters will then move to the next round for the final judging. The announcement of the three finalist and the 100 best posters will then take place. The organizers wishes to thank the esteemed jury of 22 for their patience and expert participation.
Big Respect to all our global friends who participated and supported this ground breaking contest. The next big story will come with the release of the winners names and their posters and the collection the 100 best Reggae art posters. Stay tuned!
