Hip Hop artiste, Five Steez, has finally released his much anticipated ground-breaking debut album “War for Peace” via http://www.fivesteez.com. “This is real music to help people in the struggle find peace,” he says. “It is new millennium boom-bap Hip Hop with soulful production, heavily themed with a lot of commentary, storytelling, introspection and raw lyricism on display.”
The album features 13 tracks, which fall just under 50 minutes of music. Much of the production is handled by Damien and Inztinkz while beat makers from Jamaica, Washington D.C. and as far as France and Poland contribute for the rest. Inztinkz, Kabaka Pyramid, Nomad Carlos, Shaq the MC and Tara Harrison are the guest artistes that appear alongside Steez on the album.
The release of “War for Peace” marks the completion of a journey that took Five Steez over 3 years as he prepared the album as an independent artiste. Over time, he released a variety of singles such as “Yard Nigga Rap” and “Rebel Music”, which were put together for a free album sampler, which was released on February 17, 2012. Prior to the sampler, Five Steez released online mixtapes, including the ‘Momentum’ series with New York radio icon, DJ Ready Cee.
After appearing on Hip Hop tastemaker websites such as OkayPlayer, KevinNottingham.com and many others, he has made a name for himself amongst underground Hip Hop fans worldwide. Despite the fact that the genre goes largely unrecognized in Jamaica, Five Steez has defied the odds and appeared in leading Reggae magazines, Backayard and the German-published Riddim. Writers and critics alike have hailed his lyrical prowess, depth and honesty as well as his unwavering determination in pursuit of a genre that does not fit the Jamaican stereotype.
Both digital and physical copies of “War for Peace” are available through http://www.fivesteez.com while MP3 downloads are being sold on iTunes, Amazon and other online music outlets.
