The Office of Disaster Preparedness and Emergency Management (ODPEM) is reporting that around 2:00 p.m. today, a Nissan Sunny motor car washed away in a section of the Sandy Gully located in the Cassia Park area.
The Police responded to the incident and the lone occupant of the vehicle luckily escaped unhurt.
The ODPEM strongly advises:
1. Motorists and pedestrians to avoid traveling through water-filled gullies so that incidents like these do not occur.
2. Avoid areas that are at risk from flooding after heavy rainfall.
3. Exercise caution when using bridges, fording and passes that are near to rivers and streams that are already in spate.
