The following is an update of the weather situation affecting some sections of the island as a result of the cold front that is in the island’s vicinity.
Flooding
- A retaining wall collapsed in Mansfield Flats resulting in severe damage to a house in that community.
To date, approximately 40 households have been affected in the following communities:
- Pimento Walk
- Mansfield Heights
- Mansfield Flats
- Harrison Town.
Several motor vehicles were also inundated by flood waters.
Blocked Roads
- Pimento Walk remains impassable
- Fern Gully – 80 metres of roadway was scoured at Daniel’s Step along Fern Gully.
- The main road along Reggae Park in White River area partially blocked.
The National Works Agency (NWA) has made attempts to clear the following roadways in the parish:
1. Cleared intersection at traffic lights to single lane traffic – Team is currently in that area
2. St Mary to St. Anns Bay roadway cleared to single lane traffic.
3. A team is currently clearing debris deposits at Milford Road but greater work is being concentrated at the lower section of Milford Road and main street intersections in Ocho Rios.
