Kingston College Old Boy’s Association of Florida, Inc.,(KCOBA) the alumni organization of Jamaica’s prestigious Kingston College High School, has launched a fundraising drive which will benefit the West Indies all-boy’s high school scholarship fund and capital campaign which culminates in a fundraising gala on Saturday, October 6 at 7:00pm at the Miramar Cultural Center in Miramar Florida.
For 87 years The Kingston College, a boy’s high school in Jamaica, West Indies which opened its doors to 49 boys in 1925, has carried the message and vision of founder Rev. Percival Gibson to the four corners of the world, along the way producing Olympic athletes and Rhode Scholars, politicians and ambassadors, scientists and engineers, scholars and teachers, artists, poets and musicians, businessmen and broadcasters. Today, the 1,700 young Jamaican men educated as the leaders of tomorrow on two campuses in Kingston, Jamaica, West Indies carry on this proud tradition, continuing their higher education in colleges and universities around the world while carrying the school’s motto “The Brave May Fall…But Never Yield” on their life’s journey.
Dr. Wayne Fraser, MD, president of the KCOBA Florida chapter, hails the sterling accomplishments and achievements of the high school’s graduates: “Today, the young men attending Kingston College emulate the distinguished alumni that preceded them. These gifted, intelligent, talented young men are energized and motivated to learn and take full advantage of the great education provided by Kingston College, aided by enthusiastic teachers, a positive classroom atmosphere and extraordinary school spirit, all supported by a dedicated and committed alumni committed to offering them the best secondary school education resources available.”
Dr, Fraser, along with Dr. Selbourne Goode, Dr. John Williams, Dr. Ivor Nugent, Dr. Robert Vassell, Dr. Ronald Gray,Dr. Fidel Goldson,D.C, Businessman Audley Hewitt, and Commissioner Winston Barnes.,are just some of the distinguished local Kingston College alumni who provide medical services and support to local Florida communities.
The Kingston College Old Boys Assoc. of Florida, Inc. is one of five US and international KCOBA alumni chapters (Jamaica, West Indies, Florida, New York, Toronto, Georgia) committed to maintaining the excellent educational reputation of Kingston College and to improve the school campus’s infrastructure. KCOBA’s mission is “To be an advocate and reliable source of financial and material aid for Kingston College High School.” Recent KCOBA fundraising activities have underwritten science laboratories, sports equipment, student aid and the recognition of a dedicated and outstanding faculty and supporters of Kingston College. More recently, KCOBA has expanded its activities into the area of physical plant maintenance.
