G2K NY is please to invite the community to its first town hall immigration forum. The forum will be held on September 8th, 6pm to 8pm, at United Holy Church, 1762 Nostrand Ave, Brooklyn, NY 11226. The expert panel will discuss the complexities and frequent changes to U.S. Immigration law. Refreshments will be served
The main topic of discussion will be the Obama Administration executive order, announcing that it has granted deferred action with a two-year increment (relief from deportation), for certain young people who were brought to the U.S. as young children, who meet certain criteria.
Person will be eligible for deferred action if they can demonstrate that they:
*Came to the U.S. before the age of sixteen *Were in the U.S. on June 15, 2012 and have continuously resided in the U.S. for at least 5 years *Are currently in school, graduated from high school, college, obtained a general education development certificate, or were honorably discharged from the Coast Guard or Armed forces *Have not been convicted of certain crimes
* Are not above the age of 30.
