Valrie Walker Sanders has been invited to represent the Georgia Caribbean American Heritage Coalition (GCAHC) and the Caribbean community in Georgia at a White House Regional Community Leaders’ Briefing to be held on Friday, September 30, 2011. This event is being hosted by the Office of Public Engagement. The briefing will provide a unique opportunity for grassroots leaders to come to Washington to hear directly from White House officials on the issues that are affecting communities across the country and to learn more about the President’s priorities and initiatives from the people that work on them every day. In return, the White House will get to hear what is going on in cities and towns across Georgia.
Valrie will be one of five (5) representatives from Georgia. She was recommended by the SCLC Women’s organization with whom GCAHC collaborates on voter education and other community issues, and during the 2010 Census. Helen Kim Ho, Executive Director of the Asian American Legal Advocacy Center, has also been invited to represent the Asian American communities. Valrie is GCAHC’s Founder and Director – Special Events Programming. She was appointed Georgia Goodwill Ambassador in 2008 by the State of Georgia.
Input is requested from Caribbean community leaders on suggested issues to be included for discussion at the briefing. Recommendations should be forwarded to GCAHC by September 15, 2011. A report will be circulated following the briefing.
