Under the theme
“Connecting the Dots for 30 Years”, GKRS is marking the milestone with a series of activities in Jamaica and in the Diaspora community, starting with a special church service on Sunday, November 15, 2020 at Webster Memorial Church in St Andrew.  The service will be broadcast on Radio Jamaica 94 and streamed live on GKRS’ social media pages – @gkmsonline facebook, Instagram and YouTube as well as seven pages across the Diaspora.

In keeping with Covid 19 guidelines, the church service will be followed by a “Virtual Parking Lot” where customers, agents, and partners of the company will be able to interact with the GKMS family and set the stage for upcoming 30th anniversary events.

“This is indeed a remarkable achievement for us – three decades of serving Jamaicans at home and abroad.  The trajectory of our growth has been phenomenal starting on November 16, 1990 with only six members of staff and eight agent locations. Today we have over 200 employees and about 190 agent locations, and this is a testament to the faith and trust that the Jamaican people have placed in us to safely and quickly move their money,” says Grace Burnett, President and Chief Executive Officer of the GraceKennedy Money Services (GKMS).

Not only has GKRS grown in Jamaica over the 30 years but the company also represents Western Union in many other markets in the Caribbean namely Trinidad and Tobago, Guyana, the Bahamas, Cayman Islands, British Virgin Islands, Anguilla, St. Vincent and the Grenadines; St. Kitts and Nevis, and the Turks & Caicos Islands and Montserrat.

“We connect families and businesses all across the globe using the latest in cutting edge technology, safe and secure platforms, and our signature customer service to ensure that money is moved at the pace and security demanded by our customers.  For the last 30 years we have grown with our customers and we are one big, happy family. Once you give us the opportunity to serve you, the GKRS/Western Union team embraces you as one of us. We certainly look forward to another 30 years and beyond to serve Jamaica and the Caribbean and to further strengthen our ties with the Diaspora,” says Margaret Campbell, Chief Operating Officer of GKRS.

Ms Campbell has paid tribute to all the former and present employees and agents of GKRS, saluting them for their excellent contributions over the 30 years.  She also noted that GKRS takes its corporate social responsibility seriously as it supports various initiatives in community development, education, entertainment and sports in Jamaica, the wider Caribbean, North America, Canada and the United Kingdom.

GKRS is a member of the GraceKennedy Group of Companies which has been operating in Jamaica for just under 100 years.
