Global Jamaica Diaspora Council South Representative Launches Strategic Communications Campaign to Support Jamaica Vision 20230 and National Diaspora Policy Plans

The Global Jamaica Diaspora Council in association with ‘Jamaicans Inspired’ hosts the ‘UK South Representative’ mobilization event for professionals across the diaspora. The event will outline the strategy for the U.K. South which has been developed to galvanize the community and introduce the communication strategy that will continue to aid the collaboration of the UK’s contribution towards the National Diaspora Policy and Jamaica’s Vision 2030 National Development Plan.

Presentations commence at the Jamaican High Commission headquarters in London, South Kensington on Thursday 23rd November 2023 where consultations will be held to discuss matters including the upcoming 2024 Diaspora Conference in Jamaica, investment opportunities, routes into becoming a GJDC sector specialist as well as expert insight into how to increase revenue, property development, social capital and much more.

The framework for the GJDC was endorsed by the Diaspora Advisory Board and the attendees and was established June 2019 and is one of the principal organs of the National Diaspora Policy with the responsibility to create modalities to realize the goals of the Policy. This is with a view to significantly contribute to national development in wide-ranging sectors such as: Education, Health, Agriculture, Environment, The Arts/Sport/Culture, Citizen Security, Development Expertise, Faith Based Community, Commerce.

The responsibilities of the Council include the conceptualization and recommendation of support systems and administrative initiatives to enhance collaboration between Jamaicans at home and those living overseas. In that regard, engagement with the Jamaican Diaspora remains an essential priority of the Government of Jamaica and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade.

With the phrase ‘Building a Better Jamaica’ serving as the intrinsic mechanism of this initiative GJDC assured those fundamental efforts for community building were the focus along with providing insight into the future diaspora plans and immediate intentions for the next three years.

Presiding the much-anticipated event will be multi award-winning entrepreneur, international speaker, founder of social enterprise company ‘The Safety Box’ and Co Founder of ‘Jamaicans Inspired’ Nathaniel Peat. Nathaniel has an extensive portfolio, and his contributions internationally and with the diaspora are monumental as well as the work he continues to do within his immediate community. In 2010, he represented Great Britain as a youth delegate for the G20 Toronto Young Entrepreneur’s Summit in Canada and was also featured in the under 40’s section of the 2011 Black Power List of Britain’s most influential black people. In 2023, Nathaniel was re-elected to become the Global Jamaica Diaspora Council representative to the South UK, a consultative advisor to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade (Jamaica).
