WHAT: Reebok and Reebok Grand Prix event manager, Global Athletics & Marketing, in association with Caribbean media partner Irie Jam Media will host a special reception for the media on Tuesday, April 28, 2009 in New York City (venue to be announced) in preparation for the Reebok Grand Prix 2009 coming to New York on Saturday, May 30 at 3:00 p.m.
It was at last year’s ReebokGrand Prix that Usain ‘Lighting’ Bolt, offered a glimpse of greatness when he outclassed a quality field of world elite track stars including American sprinter Tyson Gay, to win the Digicel Men’s 100 meters dash in a then world record time of 9.72 seconds. Jamaica’s sprint queen, Mrs. Veronica Campbell-Brown, a 2-time Olympic gold medalist at 200m and World Champion at 100m ran an explosive 10.92 seconds to win the women’s 100 meters dash.
This year’s Reebok Grand Prix, which takes place on Saturday, May 30, 2009 (starting 3pm) at Icahn Stadium will yet again feature a galaxy of Jamaican international track stars as well as other world beaters. For the third consecutive year, top high school teams from Jamaica along with New York area teams will compete for bragging rights.
