Dec 12, 2011 was a major moment in Gyptian’s career. The Jamaican superstar, who was selected as one of 10 finalists for MTV Iggy’s 2011 Best New Band contest, took over NYC’s Times Square for MTV Iggy’s special concert celebrating the competition.  In front of thousands of roaring fans inside Best Buy’s theater, his live performance set the tone for Korean pop headliners and Best New Band winners, 2NE1. Yuna and La Vida Boheme were among the other finalists who also performed at the concert.  After his set, Gyptian sat in front of MTV’s live studio audience to talk with host Sway, who introduced him as one of his personal favorite new artists. The concert aired live on the Times Square billboard and on mtviggy.com. 

While in New York City, Gyptian also performed at BB Kings Strictly The Best tribute concert for Joel Chin on Dec 14, featuring additional performances with Shaggy, Sean Paul, Vegas, Demarco and Laza Morgan.
