Consulate General Of Jamaica, New York Hosts “Haiti Needs Me” Radiothon To Aid In Relief Efforts, January 23, 2010

WHAT: The Consulate General of Jamaica, New York in association with Irie Jam Media Group, Street Hype Newspaper and Caricom Consular Corps will host a live on-air “Haiti Needs Me” Radiothon to aid in relief efforts for Haiti.
 
WHEN: Saturday, January 23, 2010
1:00 pm – 6:00 pm

WHERE: Irie Jam Radio 93.5 FM

WHO: Chris Dubmaster from Irie Jam Media will host the radiothon.  

Jamaica’s Consul General, New York Geneive Brown Metzger will co-host.

Hon. Deputy Prime Minister of Jamaica Dr. Kenneth Baugh, U.S Senator for New York Kirsten Gillibrand, Assemblyman Nick Perry, US Ambassador to Jamaica Brenda LaGrange-Johnson, Haiti’s Consul General to New York Hon. Felix Augustin are among a host of participants joining forces for the cause.

WHY: In a time of extreme chaos, Haiti is in dire need of immediate humanitarian assistance to aid the vulnerable and displaced families whose lives have been severely impacted by the devastating earthquake.  

Their partner, Food For The Poor, is accepting: cash donations, water, canned meats, canned milk and canned baby formula. To make contributions, persons can call toll free at 866-433-4673.

Listeners will also be invited to donate to other charities, such as the Red Cross, Save the Children and the BushClintonHaiti Fund.
