WHO: The Office of Disaster Preparedness and Emergency Management (ODPEM) requests coverage for the following event:

WHAT: Handing-Over Ceremony of Hurricane Dean Assistance Cheque from the Bible Society of the West Indies, to the ODPEM

WHERE: ODPEM Conference Room, ODPEM, 12 Camp Road, Kingston 4

WHEN: Wednesday, February 20, 2008 at 12:00 noon

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: The Bible Society of the West Indies has been moved by the plight of those negatively affected by the effects of Hurricane Dean and the subsequent heavy rains that fell and are offering a response to this situation within its limited means and capacity.

With the support of a sister Bible Society, they are offering to the ODPEM approximately $490,000 towards providing assistance and support to those whom the Organization identifies as needing this aid. Additionally, the Society will also be providing Bibles and other scriptures worth approximately $385,000.

Rev. Courtney A. Stewart and Rt. Rev. Stanley G. Clarke, General Secretary and Chairman of the Board of Directors respectively of the Bible Society of the West Indies, will hand-over the cheque to the ODPEM.
