Hapilos Entertainment Group has taken the rare step to address its critics and respond to a release posted on the internet attacking its Executive Vice President Johnny Wonder.
First, let’s call the article for what it is. The article is a poorly written, hateful, calculating, malicious press release written with only one purpose in mind and that is character assassination. Based on the overwhelming responses we have received from the hundreds of producers and artistes across the globe that currently have active distribution deals with us and the general public on a whole, it is clear that this release is being taken for what it is which is a hateful attempt at destroying the reputation of Johnny Wonder. An individual which even the attacker conceded has done so much for reggae music. The writer who proclaims herself to be an “artist” who was handed down bad “customer service” is a coward who did not reveal herself and shouldn’t strive to be anything but anonymous. We Stand 100 percent behind our Executive VP Johnny Wonder and we have every confidence in him.
The hate article began with the writer lamenting about the “excess of music that lacks creativity and quality” being put out into the market. These so called “lack of creativity” tracks come from young producers and upcoming artistes which 21st Hapilos Digital Distribution have chosen, as a business, not to ignore and to give a platform for their music. Seanizzle, Markus Myrie and Rvssian are just some of our clients who were once young producers that came to us to distribute their music. We gave them the platform to showcase their music and today they are some of our most successful producers. Popcaan, Tommy Lee and Ricky Blaze were once young artistes who came to us for distribution. These artistes are now successful musicians in their own right. The release further laments on the way we “prioritize the welfare of the superstar artists while treating the younger upcoming artists like they don’t exist” Well which is it? It can’t be both. Are we helping young artists and producers by promoting and distributing their work or are we just looking out for the welfare of superstar artistes?
This malicious release has unintentionally communicated a lot of positives about Johnny Wonder as an individual and 21st Hapilos Digital Distribution as a business. The author mentioned her “respect” for Johnny “for his experience and hard work he has done over the years for our music” this says a lot coming from a hater who is trying to assassinate someone’s character. The writer conceded that 9 out of 10 MAINSTREAM PRODUCERS will tell you that “they can’t do without the services we offer because there are no better options” – This is also very telling. They have conceded that we are more “popular” than our competitors and have also conceded that we are “currently top of the hierarchy”. Now put yourself into a potential client’s shoe who is reading this article written by someone who went out of their way to be malicious. Take into consideration all the things quoted above which was taken from their malicious release. Who would you distribute with? Would you go with the more popular, hard working, experienced, respected “WOLF” on top of the hierarchy, which 9 out of 10 main stream producers have told you there are no better options to the services the “WOLF” offers? or would you go with a weaker distributor – a sheep if you will – that happens to have better customer service? Probably because there are so fewer customers to service. We guarantee that 9 out of 10 times a potential client will choose 21st Hapilos’ Johnny Wonder for their distribution needs
