Today, Monday October 19, 2009, is celebrated as Heroes Day in Jamaica, the official celebration of its seven national heroes. These heroes, Sir. Alexander Bustamante, Norman Washington Manley, Paul Bogle, George William Gordon, Marcus Mosiah Garvey, Sam Sharp, and Nanny of the Maroons, contributed to the liberation, growth and development of Jamaica significantly, with great passion and zeal. We encourage you to read the individual contributions of each hero via this link, National Heroes, and other sources. Our heroes cannot be truly celebrated without the understanding that they encouraged and motivated others to be leaders in their own right. A true honor to them would be that we all live in their spirit of giving and passion to see a better Jamaica and global community.
