After releasing the official video for “Since You’ve Been Gone” and premiering the official video for the acoustic version of the same song with celebrity gossip and entertainment magazine BOSSIP, Hymn Marley now gives his sun-kissed pop ditty the lyrical treatment with a brand new official lyric video on Caribbean music, arts, and culture tastemaker website LargeUp. The cinematic visuals, directed by Hymn’s creative cohort Donbi TV, feature the prolific young artist lost in thought as he wanders down a seemingly endless dirt road at an undisclosed location in his hometown of Miami. While he never lip syncs a word, the lyrics popping off of the screen reveal Hymn’s inner lament:

Since you’ve been gone
I just can’t sleep at night
Since you’ve been gone
My heart don’t beat right
Hymn tells LargeUp, “the concept behind the video is like the song — reflective moments on the things we’ve been through.” He continued, “it’s that one on one we have with ourselves from time to time.”
There is a beautiful simplicity in the lyrics that is only complemented by the song’s musical arrangement, courtesy of producers Jonathan and David Julca. Acoustic guitar, slide guitar, sparse percussion, and a catchy trumpet line at just the right moment, all serve to support Hymn’s effortless vocals.
Hymn is the grandson of musical icons Bob and Rita Marley, and the son of multi-Grammy award winner Stephen Marley. Born in Jamaica, Hymn now calls Miami his home. His debut EP In My Head is due for release in September on the artist’s own Hymntertainment label, distributed via the Marley family’s Tuff Gong International.
