I have been trying my best to not add anything to the Jah Cure debate as he already has a great PR machine going. I restrained myself for years after being asked to start a petition on Jamaicans.com to free Mr. Siccaturie Alcock aka Jah Cure. I have really tried my best to not say anything. I need a Cure from Jah Cure. But now it seems he is everywhere. His poster is staring at me when I enter a Jamaican/Caribbean store or restaurant.

His advertisement is staring at me when I open the 6 Jamaican/Caribbean Newspapers in the South Florida area. I need a Cure from Jah Cure.

When I turn on the Caribbean/Jamaican radio stations his songs fill the area. The press announcements are weekly. If he sneezes everyone knows. I need a Cure from Jah Cure.

A few of my friends and I have been debating the past few months on whether the media would ask the tough questions once he was released. This week my cousin visiting from Jamaica weighed in this debate as he was watching the Michael Vick confession TV. I need a Cure from Jah Cure. I think he always had the mass media on his side. This takes me to the debate.

As many of you know he was in prison for raping a young lady at gun point. We have heard his side through interviews but mainly through proxies in the media. We have heard her side through an interview with the Gleaner. In many of these types of cases we are put in the position to pick sides…in this case I feel like I am being forced to pick Jah Cure’s side. I have not truly heard him say he did not do it. I have no evidence, but the lady’s side, to say he did. In his song “Prison Walls” some of the lyrics can be construed as him asking for forgiveness. It was recorded while he is being prison. In the song he says he is “sorry” and he can be “a better man”. The media machine has been telling me like many others to overlook this as it is a man trying to get parole. I just feel I am being forced to pick one side. I need a Cure Me From Jah Cure
