Jamaica’s second faith-based full length film, The Gift Everlasting, which recently premiered to a standing room only crowd in Kingston, Jamaica, is scheduled to premiere in South Florida at various venues from Friday, December 12 to Sunday, December 14, 2014.
Following on the success of their first faith-based movie, Just Another Friday, BarriVision Films and Jamaica Youth for Christ (JYFC) have teamed up again to create The Gift Everlasting. Written by author and playwright Judith Falloon-Reid, and directed by Judith, her producer husband Michael Brown and director/actor Andrew Jones, who plays the lead role, The Gift Everlasting features the members of Acts 12, the drama division of the JYFC and popular Gospel band, Katalys Crew.
“You will see many of the same faces from the award-winning Just Another Friday in this film as well,” says Judith, “with the addition of many more faces including mine. For the first time in over 10 years I am stepping out from behind the scenes and onto the stage in my role as Sandra, one of two antagonists.”
The Gift Everlasting tells the story of James, a workaholic husband who provides well materially for his family and Joan his neglected and distracted wife played by Vanesa Clarke on their 20th anniversary.  Joan’s well planned celebration is doomed to fail as James callously dismisses the importance of the day, adding to the pressure of an already failing marriage. Caught in the middle of the declining relationship are their teen-aged daughters who attempt to cope with the turn of events in their own ways. As in real life, there are always other suitors waiting in the wings to pick apart the marriage in the hopes of picking up the pieces.
“Go see this film, an accomplishment by director/producer Judith Falloon-Reid and her husband Michael Brown, their second feature in 3 years. Yes, it’s a ‘Christian’ movie, but it’s not preachy, just a nice story well told, well filmed and well presented, showing growth of the Jamaican film industry,” says Filmmaker, Author and Founder of the International Reggae Film Festival, Barbara Blake-Hannah.
“It’s the story of so many marriages,” says BarriVision head, Michael Brown. “Working to pay the bills and buy the material comforts of life often come at the expense of family relationships. The Gift Everlasting reminds us that commitment, family and faith are absolutely essential to keeping a marriage healthy.”
