The Jamaican community in the United Kingdom is distressed to learn through, press reports, which though unconfirmed, allege that someone of Jamaican origin is involved in the horrifying acts of terrorism that claimed so many innocent lives in London last week.
The Jamaican community unreservedly condemns all acts of terrorism and is deeply saddened by the senseless loss of life and the injuries suffered by so many people, including Jamaicans, going about their normal daily lives.
Jamaicans who have settled in the United Kingdom are fully integrated into British society and are hardworking loyal citizens who continue to contribute to national development.
The Jamaican Diaspora stands united with the wider British community in defying the attempts to terrorise the nation. We will resist all attempts to associate terrorism to race, nationality or religion and pledge our support to the authorities in their quest to bring the perpetrators to justice.
The Jamaican Diaspora wishes to extend deep and profound sympathies to all the families who have been affected.
Note to Editors
The Jamaican Diaspora UK is a newly established organisation which seeks to bring together Jamaicans in the United Kingdom to work to promote the interests of Jamaica and Jamaicans and to contribute to the country’s development. Similar organisations have also been set up in Canada and the USA.
