On behalf of the Embassy of Jamaica in the United States of America, I take much pleasure in wishing all Jamaicans and friends of Jamaica a very Merry Christmas and a New Year blessed with peace, tranquility and fulfillment.
With the underlying spirit of Christmas, we look towards December 25 as a time for sharing, caring and togetherness. We remember friends and family members who many not partake fully in the joys of the holiday season owing to personal challenges; we keep them especially in our thoughts as we reflect on the promise of brighter tomorrows.
And as we reflect on the year 2015 – and in some cases contemplate New Year’s resolutions to guide our way – we hope for determination and courage to overcome the obstacles that will inevitably fall before us as individuals and as part of the Jamaican community, at home or abroad.
At the Embassy of Jamaica, we resolve to continue the work of projecting the positive spirit and versatility that Jamaicans everywhere associate with the word, “tallawah”. As our sporting stars excel in track and field, as Alia Atkinson moves swiftly through the pool shattering records and stereotypes, as our musicians and artists spread Jamaica’s outstanding culture across the globe, and as our leaders and scholars bring enlightenment in their pronouncements, may we celebrate the Jamaican spirit with love and class.
Together, let us redouble our efforts towards heights of achievement; and, as always, let us pledge that Jamaica continues to play its part in advancing the welfare of the whole human race.
