SEAN PAUL DROPPED BY ATLANTIC RECORDS—09/29/14
After some ten years at Atlantic Records, a relationship that providing several hit singles and two platinum albums, the company has parted ways with Sean Paul, deejay. No reasons were given for the split. Sean Paul signed with Atlantic in a joint deal with VP Records, an independent firm, in 2002.

CARIBBEAN DESIGNERS SHOW AT DOMINICANA MODE 2014—09/30/14
The Caribbean Export Development Agency is supporting six regional designers in a showcase at Dominicana Mode 2014 in the Dominican Republic. Designers include Kimya Glasgo of St. Vincent, Heather Jones International of Trinidad, Christian Boucaud Designs of Trinidad, Jean Yves Marchard of Haiti, and Reve Jewelry and Accessories of Jamaica. Caribbean Export is committed to developing the fashion sector in the region and intends to create more opportunities for designers to enter new markets and gain more exposure.

KEI MILLER OF JAMAICA WINS FORWARD PRIZE IN POETRY—10/01/14
The Jamaican poet Kei Miller is the winter of the 2014 Forward Prize for Best Poetry Collection. Miller received a prize of £10,000 for “The Cartographer Tries to Map a Way to Zion.” Miller’s book was structured around a map maker who is trying to impose order on unfamiliar land.

REGGAE SUNG IN SWAHILI BY BRINA—10/02/14
Brina, a Jamaican singer who released a debut album in 2012, is moving in another direction with music on her new recording “Reggae Sauti Za Kiswahili.” The album is recorded completely in Swahili. Brina, who traveled across Europe in the past four years, stated that all the vocals were recorded in London and that a strong Jamaican connection remains in the reggae music.
