LEVY INDUCTED INTO CARIBBEAN POULTRY GROUP HALL OF FAME—10/04/14
Robert Levy, the chairman of Jamaica Broilers Group, has been inducted into the Caribbean Poultry Association’s Hall of Fame. He was honored for his contributions to the advancement of the poultry industry and for creating programs that helped poultry farmers operate profitable businesses.

UNITED CANNABIS CORPORATION JOINS WITH CANNABINOID RESEARCH FIRM—10/05/14
The United Cannabis Corporation announced that it participated with a group of Jamaicans to create a Jamaican corporation called Cannabinoid Research & Development Company Limited (CRD). The firm owns fifty percent of CRD. The venture is designed to advance the use of cannabis in medical therapy through research in biomedical and pharmaceutical areas. A facility in Kingston has been identified as corporate headquarters for CRD, but no lease has been signed on the space as yet.

JAMAICAN TOURIST BOARD FIRES BRITISH MARKETING REPRESENTATIVE—10/06/14
After making comments on Facebook about her father’s murder in Jamaica, Zoe Bennett, 35, was dismissed by the Jamaican Tourist Board. Bennett’s father had been murdered in December 2011 in an attack at his home. She made her remarks after she found that her father had bled to death following the machete attack. Bennett, who lives in the United Kingdom and who works as a marketing representative, received an award of £19,000 from the Jamaican Tourist Board after a hearing found that the organization was wrong to fire her.

DAVOREN ELECTED HEAD OF CARIBBEAN POSTAL UNION—10/07/14
Sandra Davoren, the Postmaster General of St. Kitts and Nevis, has been elected to the post of Secretary General of the Caribbean Postal Union. She will serve a term of two years from 2014 through 2015 and help the postal union to develop new quality of service products, including e-commerce services. Davoren graduated from the University of the West Indies, receiving an MBA. She also has a Bachelors degree in Education. Davoren will advise the Caribbean Council of Ministers of Postal Affairs.
