FIRST NEXUS CARIBBEAN YOUTH SUMMIT HELD—02/14/15
Jamaica was the site of the first Nexus Caribbean Youth Summit. The event features speeches from philanthropists like the CEO and chairman of Sandals Resorts Adam Stewart and the CEO of Geneva Global Richard Power. The summit was designed to bring together 120 participants in order to bridge the gap between social entrepreneurs and philanthropists in the Caribbean and the world. The summit focused on the Caribbean as a hub of cultural diversity, innovation, and intellectual capability.

JAMAICA FOOTBALL FEDERATION PARTNERS WITH ROMAI SPORTSWEAR—02/15/15
Captain Horace Burrell, president of the Jamaica Football Federation (JFF) and Kamis Mohammed Al Rumaithy, vice president and managing director of Romai Sportswear, a new sports apparel manufacturer, have agreed to a four-year partnership valued as high as US$4.8 million. Burrell said the agreement represents an exciting time for football in Jamaica and that the sport is on the brink of experiencing great things in the future.

GOVERNMENT PLANS NEW INTERNATIONAL PARTNERSHIPS—02/16/15
Jamaica’s government plans to make new relationships and make current partnerships stronger on the international stage via the Jamaica Investment Forum 2015. The forum will run from March 10 to March 12, 2015 at Montego Bay’s Convention Center. It will target top international investors and business leaders who want to find business opportunities on the island. Milton Samuda, chairman of the Jamaica Promotions Corporation (JAMPRO), has urged members of the diplomatic community to participate in the conference.

NEW LEADER FOR DIGICEL JAMAICA AS FORMER CEO PROMOTED—02/19/15
The CEO of Digicel Barry O’Brien will receive a promotion and become the Director of Business Development for Digicel Caribbean and Central America. He will also be Board Director for Digicel Barbados after two years heading Digicel. O’Brien said he was excited about his new role and that it will allow him to examine and fine new and current businesses in the region as Digicel continues to evolve its operations. Leading Digicel Jamaica after O’Brien’s departure will be David Butler, who will transfer from his current position as CEO for Digicel Panama.
