Jamaica Creative Writing Exhibition Continues Island-Wide Tour

The creative works of amateur and professional writers who entered their pieces in the 2014 Jamaica Cultural Development Commission (JCDC) Jamaica Creative Writing Competition are being showcased across the island at National Libraries.

The public has been viewing the award-winning pieces from amateur and professional writers who entered their creative works in Poetry, Short Stories, Novels, Essays and Plays since August 7, 2014. The tour continues until March 30, 2015.

Members of the public in Hanover will now receive their opportunity to view the award winning pieces come January 7 to January 21 while the Exhibition will be opened in St. James from January 23 to February 6. The works can be viewed at the respective Parish Libraries.

Trelawny will gear up to view the award-winning pieces at the Parish Library from February 10 to February 24. The tour will continue on February 26 to March 12 in St. Ann and will conclude in St. Mary as the Exhibition runs from March 16 to March 30.

For years writers have been utilizing the Competition as one of the best channels of providing them with the opportunity of recognizing and validating their writing talent while showcasing and promoting their original work.

Noteworthy Jamaican writers such as Professor Mervyn Morris, Dionne Jackson-Miller, Trevor Rhone, Basil Dawkins, Nadine Tomlinson, Rhonda Harrison, Charmaine Morris and Michael Reckord have had association with and benefitted from the Competition.
