JAMAICAN BICYCLIST MOVING TOWARD OLYMPICS—01/10/15
Maliek Byndloss is working at the Eden Park BMX Track in St. Mary in preparation for his attempt to represent Jamaica at the Olympic Games in 2016. Byndloss, 19, who has Jamaican parents, must obtain ten Union Cycliste International (UCI) racing points to qualify for the 2016 Summer Games. His goal is to make a name for Jamaica in international BMX competitions.

POWELL BEGINS NEW REGIME TO IMPROVE CHANCES OF WINNING—01/13/15
Asafa Powell, Jamaica’s champion sprinter, has suffered several years without a major victory, but he is preparing to be a serious contender once again. Power, has made a change in his coaching and is taking a new approach to his training. Powell said he is capable of performing better than most sprinters in the current competitions and that his best achievements are yet to come.

REGGAE GIRLZ LOSS AT WORLD CUP BID STILL FEATURED QUALITY PERFORMANCE—01/14/15
While the failure of the Reggae Girlz to succeed in their bid for the World Cup was disappointing, Jamaican still produced some of its best performances in the final round of the CONCAFAF. One of the bright spots of the competition was provided by Lauren Silver, who joined the team just months before the tournament. Silver, 21, started in all three matches and has shown great enthusiasm for the game.

BERNARD SAYS SUNSHINE SERIES VICTORY WAS “AWESOME”—01/15/15
Marva Bernard, the president of Netball Jamaica, praised the 2-1 victory of the Sunshine Girls over the English Roses at the Supreme Ventures Sunshine Series. The team won the final game 57 to 47 before a packed crowd of fans. Bernard said she had no doubt that the Girls would be victorious because she said she knew the team was determined not to have England beat them.
