Jamaica is bringing island vibes to Boston during this weekend’s 2010 John Hancock Sports & Fitness Expo, April 16-18, part of the lineup of events leading up to the Boston Marathon. Jamaica’s annual Reggae Marathon event will be front and center at the island’s booth (#1728), along with exciting activities from event sponsor PUMA® that will give attendees chances to win prizes that include complimentary admission into the 2010 Reggae Marathon in Negril.
“The Boston Marathon is the perfect venue to whet the appetites of athletic travelers with the sights and sounds of Jamaica’s premier Marathon event,” said Jamaica’s Director of Tourism John Lynch. “Our competitive sports offerings continue to draw athletes from all over the world, who return time and again for our unique twist on athletics.”
In addition to jamming to Reggae music and viewing footage from past Reggae Marathons, visitors to the booth will enjoy giveaways and have a chance to “race” against PUMA athlete and the world’s fastest man Usain Bolt in a video simulated competition. Free entries to the 2010 Reggae Marathon, Half Marathon and 10K will also be given away. The booth will be manned by experienced Marathoners who are key members of the Reggae Marathon Team and representatives from the Jamaica Tourist Board who can elaborate on the island’s continued foray into competitive sports offerings.
The 2010 John Hancock Sports & Fitness Expo is open to the public and admission is free. The event takes place at the Hynes Convention Center on April 16 from 2:00pm – 7:00pm, April 17 from 9:00am – 6:00pm, and April 18 from 9:00am – 6:00pm.
The 2010 Reggae Marathon will take place December 4, 2010 and is staged on the scenic shores of Negril, set to the pulsating rhythms of live Reggae music.
