Jamaica College Wins The Ziadie Masters Cup Soccer Match; Camperdown Wins The Western Union All Girls School Alumni Penalty Kick-Off

Jamaica College defeated St George 3-0 on Saturday, April 17th, 2010 to claim the Ziadie Masters Cup soccer trophy.  It was there first Ziadie Masters Cup win since the tournament began 6 years ago. The St. Georges team was gracious in their loss and vowed to win back the trophy in 2011. The St. George’s College and Jamaica College over-40 teams played to a 2-2 draw in the Ziadie Cup Senior Match.

Over 850 people attended the annual Ziadie Cup at the Silver Shores Park, in Miramar Florida. It was a reunion for many as friendships were rekindled with old classmates who traveled from around the world to be at the premier event of the True Blue weekend. They were treated to music, food, a penalty kick-off and 2 exciting soccer matches.

The match was broadcasted live on the radio on WAVS 1170 AM and online by Irietimes.com.

This year’s Ziadie Cup soccer match was a part of the “True Blue” weekend festivities which included a True Blue mixers/party on April 16th, 2010 and a True Blue church service on April 18th, 2010.

The soccer skills of the Jamaican Alumnae ladies were on display in the in the Grace Kennedy Remittance Services/ Western Union All Girls Schools Alumni Penalty Kick-off.  The Camperdown High School Past Students’ Association Florida Chapter emerged as the winner in the final round defeating the St. Hugh’s Alumnae Association of South Florida. Grace Kennedy Remittance Services/ Western Union will make $100 cash donation to the winning school and $50 cash donation to the second place school.
