jamarchJamaica is in the news again and in France this time as the subject of popular French travel program “Destination Glisse”. Jamaica’s surfing community has copped a major segment in the hour long production which features Jamaican music, sports and culture.
“We have already started receiving email from France as a result of the exposure which helps to dispel the traditional myth that there is no surf in Jamaica” said JSA President Billy Wilmot. “We expect to see an increase in surf visitor arrivals to the eastern end of the island which has been missing the tourism wave for so long as a result of its rough and rocky coastline”.
This will be sweet revenge for eastern seaboard towns with quality surf like Bull Bay, Yallahs, Morrant Bay, Boston Bay, Buff Bay and even Kingston as traditional tourism centers of Montego Bay, Ocho Rios, Negril and now Falmouth do not have any surf to offer potential surf tourists.
