Jamaican Dub Poet Malachi Smith Is Billed To Perform At The African Caribbean Diaspora Presidential Inauguration Ball On January 21, 2013 In Washington, DC.13

In recognition of President Barack Obama’s re-election as 44th President of the United States of America, the African-Caribbean Diaspora Presidential Inaugural Ball Committee presents the first African-Caribbean Diaspora Presidential Inaugural Ball. The celebration takes place Monday, January 21, 2013; 6:30 PM. to 1:30 AM. at the Hyatt Regency, Capitol Hill, 400 New Jersey Avenue, NW Washington D.C. 20001. VIP reception commences at 6:30 PM with live entertainment followed by, the Grand Ball, beginning at 7:30 PM. A three course meal and live entertainment featuring: members of THE TOW [The Original Whalers band], the Latunde Silver band, internally acclaimed Dub Poet, Malachi Smith, Comedian Anna Mulagha, Renowned African drummer Nana from Ghana, notable keyboardist/arranger/producer Papa Kofi Edu and the Ewabo Steel Band.

The historic event is made possible by the collaboration of the Virginia Caribbean Education Exchange Foundation (VCEEF), the Caribbean American Faith Based Leadership Council, the Hip Hop Caucus, the Caribbean American Chamber of Commerce and a host of businesses, organizations and faith based leaders throughout the Diaspora.

Tickets are 300.00 for VIP Entrance; $175.00 for General Admittance; $60.00 for the Young Professionals Ball, (ages 18 – 30), and $35.00 for the Future Leaders’ Ball, (ages 6 to 17). Recognition will be given to a number of distinguished leaders throughout the Diaspora and coordinators will share plans for the launch of an African-Caribbean Caucus in support of partnerships, collaborative efforts, and cohesion among Diaspora organizations. “This time in history is monumental to all people of African and Caribbean heritage whose demonstrated faith, hope and hard work allow us to share in this rich period of history,” the Rev. Dr. Agorom Dike, Chair of The African Caribbean Diaspora Presidential Inaugural Ball stated.
