I remember the first person I heard call the violence in Jamaica a genocide. I did not take it serious as I thought it was just us typical Jamaicans exaggerating. Recently I have heard quite a few people refer to the violence in Jamaica as genocide. In my mind this just not apply. When I think of the word I think of Bosnia,Germany, Rwanda and Darfur. They mentioned that because most of the violence has a political root and is politically driven. I thought that was a stretch so I looked up the definition.

Genocide: the deliberate and systematic extermination of a national, racial, political, or cultural group.
