Jamaican Songstress Janet-Lee Davis Releases Her First Official Single in a Decade

Lovers Rock queen Janet-Lee Davis has been back in the studio to record her first official single after a hiatus lasting almost 10 years.

Pour Sugar on Me, released on 5th December was recorded with the legendary Lord Koos Records, this will be Janet-Lee’s first single from her upcoming eponymous EP.

The British born artist spent her formative years living in Jamaica and enjoyed major success in the music industry in the 80s after she returned back to the UK to continue her solo career securing hits like ‘Never Gonna Let You Go’.  1987 marked the release of the No:1 ‘Two Timing Lover’ with Fashion Records, including the B-Side ‘Call Me An Angel’ that also featured her DJ’ing skills under the name Shako Lee.

In 1990 Janet-Lee topped the UK reggae charts in combination with C.J. Lewis, performing a version of the 60s hit from Keith and Enid, ‘Worried Over You’.   With Pour Sugar on Me, Davis rekindles her professional relationship with the man who first signed her to Island Records in 1990, where she recorded hits like Pleasure Seeker or Spoilt By Your Love, to name but a few.

‘It’s a joy to be working with Janet-Lee again after over a decade, her voice has aged like fine wine – she’s even more mellow now.’ Says, Mi-Kee Koos.

The multi-award singer has chosen to return with a Johnny Nash classic – Pour Sugar On Me. The 70’s hit that was popularised in 1976 by Judy Mowatt’s version, written in collaboration with Bob Marley.

Pour Sugar on Me, is out on all digital platforms from 5th December 2021.
