Judge Patrick Robinson who has authored the book ‘Jamaican Athletics…A Model For The World’ will be in Orlando, Fl. for his Book Signing event being held at the beautiful Lexington Hotel in Downtown Orlando on Fri. Jan 4, 2008 from 6:00pm – 9:30pm.
This event is under the distinguished patronage of the Consul General of Jamaica, the Hon. C.P. Ricardo Allicock.
Entertainment will be provided by Mello Steel Drum Band filling the air with the Caribbean sounds, Clover Batts presenting Jamaican Folk Songs and, Jennifer Copeland doing excerpts from the famous Miss. Lou works and performing other Jamaican Folklore. Light hors d’oeuvres will be served.
The event will be a tastefully created affair where some of the famous athletes represented in the book will be present. It is anticipated that Michael McKinley (son of Herb McKinley the world’s fastest 400 meter runner more than half a century ago) will also be in attendance. Five dollars ($5.00) from the sale of every book sold will be donated to the Salvation Army Arthur Wint Basic School in Lucea, Jamaica, which is named after Arthur Wint, the first ever Caribbean Gold Medalist in the Olympics.
Judge Patrick Robinson is an outstanding individual. He has served for the past 8 years as a Judge with the UN International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia, is a former member of the International Law Commission, and former President of the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights. In 1986 he was made a Commander of the Order of Distinction by the Government of Jamaica for services in international law and in 2005 was awarded an Honorary Doctor of Laws by the University of the West Indies.
