Jamaican Consul General to New York Geneive Brown Metzger was saddened to hear of the tragic loss of Jamaican national Ramarley Graham, who even though unarmed, was shot and killed by a member of the New York Police Department (NYPD) on February 2.
The Consul General and the staff of the Jamaican Consulate stands with the family in their grief and ask that they accept heartfelt condolences on behalf of the people and Government of Jamaica.
Jamaicans such as the family of Ramarley migrate to the United States in search of socio-economic opportunities; for Ramarley, the American dream will never be realized as his hope of becoming a recording artiste will be laid to rest with him tomorrow (Saturday, February 18). Our thoughts and prayers are with his family during this difficult time.
The funeral for Ramarley Graham will be held at Crawford Memorial Methodist, 3757 White Plains Road, Bronx, New York. The Consulate will be represented by Deputy Consul General Sharon Burrell Green and Community Relations Officer Trudy Deans.
