Jamaican Diaspora Convention Postponed

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade advises that the Jamaican Diaspora Convention 2010, which was scheduled for the 14th-17th June, 2010 at the Sunset Jamaica Grande Hotel in Ocho Rios, has been postponed.

The decision for the postponement was taken after consultations with key stakeholders locally and abroad. While it was recognised that the planning process was far advanced and resources already expended, the slow rate of registration for the Convention threatened its viability.

Further consultations will be undertaken to determine the new date.

The Ministry extends appreciation to our sponsors, collaborating agencies and all stakeholders whose diligence and commitment had contributed to the advancement of the planning process. We recognise and regret that for those members of the Diaspora who had begun their preparations, the deferral will pose some difficulty.

The Ministry apologises for any inconvenience that the postponement may cause.
