New York Consulate General of Jamaica Opens Condolence Book for Herbert McKenley – New York

As a mark of respect for the life of the late Herbert Henry “Herb” McKenley, OM, a condolence book will be opened at the offices of the Consulate General of Jamaica, 767 Third Avenue, 2nd & 3rd Floors, Manhattan, 10017 (corner of 48th Street), now through Friday, December 07, 2007.

The book will be opened for signing from 9:00 am through 5:00 pm.

Olympian ‘Herb Mac’ one of Jamaica’s and world’s best track & field athlete, died on Monday, November 26, 2007 at the age of 85 years old.

Acting Consul General of Jamaica to New York, Mr. Lincoln Downer is encouraging the Jamaican community to sign the book as a show of respect for someone whose personal glory some six decades ago, formed the springboard for the nation’s success at the highest level in modern athletics.

Mr. McKenley will be accorded an official funeral on Saturday, December 08, 2007 at the National Arena with interment at the National Heroes Park, Kingston, Jamaica.
