Jamaican Reggae Icon Thrills Audience At Central Park, July 11, 2010

Reggae legend Dr. Jimmy Cliff excites the crowd with his classic sound and astonishing stage skills during the 25th anniversary season of SummerStage on Sunday, July 11, 2010.  One lucky patron to the event won a trip for two to Kingston, Jamaica with roundtrip tickets on JetBlue and a weekend stay at the Knutsford Court Hotel. The Jamaican artist was the headline act for the SummerStage series of free concerts which also featured Victor Deme and Trevor Hall.

Jamaican born reggae musician and songwriter Jimmy Cliff known for penning the soundtrack to the movie The Harder They Come wows the capacity sized crowd at last Sunday’s SummerStage series, produced by City Parks Foundation.  Dr. Cliff who was recently inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and holds The Order of Merit, Jamaica’s highest award granted by the Jamaican government for achievements in the arts, performed a number of hits including, You Can Get It If You Really Want, Many Rivers to Cross and I Can See Clearly Now, made popular by the movie Cool Runnings.
