“Reggae to 1 Million” is the newest fan campaign launched by Jamaicansmusic.com on popular social networking site, Facebook. The entertainment fan page is well-known across the globe, having caught the interest of hundreds of people from different nationalities, races and cultures.
“Our goal is to reach our fans across the world wherever they are, and social media is helping to facilitate our efforts,” said Alex Morrissey, CEO and founder of Jamaicansmusic.com.
Jamaicansmusic.com announced the campaign on Monday, Sept. 13, in the middle of its World Tour 2010. The website’s personnel are currently touring in Southeast Asia documenting reggae music’s impact on international communities around the world.
Fans are encouraged to visit Jamaicansmusic.com and then click the share or tweet icon, and “like” its Facebook page. http://facebook.com/jamaicanmusic. There is a prominent counter located at the top of every page displaying the total number of fans who have “liked” its Facebook page so far.
“To the right of the counter, users have the option to like our Facebook fan page or tweet it instantly when they log in to either of the social networks,” Morrissey said.
It has been less than a year since the website’s Facebook fan page was established, and an astounding figure of more than 66,000 fans have already joined the online fan community. Undoubtedly, Jamaicansmusic.com is one of the top leaders in providing Jamaican music entertainment for local and international fans.
“With a growing rate of nearly 300 new fans each day, we have achieved a lot and we are pushing forward to our 1 million fans goal,” said Morrissey. “Not to mention, the number of fans we have now were achieved without any paid advertisement or promotion.”
The long term goal for the company is to be the world’s one-stop Jamaican music shop, allowing people to listen and buy any genre of Jamaican music through iTunes or the website’s online store.
In July 2010, the company made history by launching the world’s first virtual turntable system, giving its users access to mix more than 5,000 songs from the website without downloading any additional software.
A second version for the turntable system is scheduled to release in Dec. 2010. “It’s going to a well-improved version of the current system, with new features to make it feel like a more realistic experience.”
