Over 300 brides-to-be attended the first-ever Jamaica Destination Wedding Showcase held at the Manhattan Penthouse in New York City on March 6. The event served as a venue for couples planning their nuptials to discover what Jamaica has to offer for their trip down the aisle. The affair featured a range of experiences including cake tastings, hair and makeup sessions, models in designer wedding gowns, and one-on-one consultations with wedding specialists from a range of Jamaica’s top resorts. The Jamaica Destination Wedding Showcase was hosted by the Jamaica Tourist Board in partnership with The Wedding Salon, the leaders in luxury wedding trade shows.

“Through our partners, we effectively showcased the diverse resort options available in Jamaica for a destination wedding, including the variety of attractions available for the wedding party and guests to enjoy,” said Marcia Bullock-Jobson, Regional Director of Groups and Conventions for the Jamaica Tourist Board.

Throughout the event, wedding specialists talked with brides of every budget on how they plan their fairytale wedding in a seamless way. Jamaican designer Sheena Carby dressed models in her new collection of island-inspired wedding gowns. Renowned celebrity artist Sonia Rodriguez, gave brides wedding-ready hair and make-up sessions before they headed to a photo booth for a fun photography session. The event also included wedding cakes by Palermo’s Custom Cakes & Bakery, Jamaican cocktails presented by Seagram’s Escapes, Jamaican cuisine by Golden Krust Caribbean Bakery & Grill as well as honeymoon giveaways to Grand Palladium Resort & Spa and Sunset Resorts Jamaica.

“Jamaica is such a magical place to plan a wedding and we were so thrilled to showcase all that the island has to offer brides,” said Tatiana Byron, CEO and Founder of The Wedding Salon. “The trends and highlights we saw really demonstrated how incredibly memorable a destination wedding in Jamaica can be.”

Along with the Jamaica Tourist Board, participants included Grand Palladium Resort & Spa, Half Moon, A RockResort, Holiday Inn Sunspree Resort, IBEROSTAR Hotels & Resorts, Jewel Resorts, the Montego Bay Convention Centre, The Tryall Club, Sunset Resorts Jamaica, NST Pictures, M2M, Party Up Productions/Decco and Tai Flora Services Ltd, Jamaica’s largest floral provider and vendor for many of the major resort hotels and venues.
